Vivek Shraya Book Launch and QT2IPOC Showcase!

Please join us! All are welcome to this FREE event, less than a week away!

September 23rd, 7pm, at the Ambrosia Center (on the Homelands of the Lkwungen and WSANEC Peoples, 638 Fisgard St) the UVic Pride, UVSS Students of Colour Collective (SOCC), the anti.violence.project, and the Positive Space Network (PSN), are happy to bring you VIVEK SHRAYA and a QT2IPOC (queer, trans, two-sprit Indigenous and people of colour) showcase!

This free event is part of Vivek’s book tour to launch his new book, She of the Mountains, a beautifully rendered illustrated novel that weaves a passionate, contemporary love story with a re-imagining of Hindu mythology. Both narratives explore the complex ways that we are formed and transformed by love, and show how the process of learning to love and be loved by another can ultimately—and sometimes painfully—bring us back to our selves.

Vivek is a a Toronto-based artist working in the media of music, performance, literature and film as well as the winner of the the We are Listening International Singer/Songwriter Award and a two-time Lambda Literary Award finalist. More about Vivek here:

There is also a workshop, facilitated by Vivek, starting at 5pm at the Ambrosia Center. More details can be found here. Limited space is left. This workshop is reserved for Queer, Trans, Two-Spirit Indigenous and People of Colour.

The space is wheel-chair accessible – double doors into the center – double doors into the event room, high ceilings. Note that there are fluorescent lighting. Snacks and non-alcoholic drinks available.

Amazing, Right!?

If you have any questions, please feel free to email

Looking forward to seeing you there!
